Review of "13 de luxe" CD in Carbon 14 - July 2000
Adam West - "13 de luxe" CD
At first listen, Adam West fits nicely in to the punk rock and roll category but the further you go 13 de luxe, the further away you go from that and more into hard rock - real hard rock like they made in the 70s. Its like a strange crossbreeding of Radio Birdmans take on the Detroit sound, the actual Detroit sound, Samhain, Black Oak Arkansas, and a little bit of Monster Magnet (from the Tab 25 days). That being said, Adam West still kick out a sound all their own. There is everything from full-tilt, foot to the floor power chord punk to extended spaced out excursions, with little twists in between to keep you on your toes. Though there are a couple of songs I didn't really go for on this one, 13 de luxe is still a pretty solid record.
