Four reviews in Swedish fanzine "DenimZine" - April 1999
DenimZine's Joel and Krilla with Jake Starr in the middle in Lund, Sweden, April 1999
Today, two CDs and three 7"s landed here from Fandango Records, so we thought we should give a full-damn page to this record company, so read on and fuck shit up. We chatted with Jake Starr from Fandango and will meet up with him in the near future at (ex. MC5 the guitarist) Wayne Kramer, Hellacopters, Nomads, and Powder Monkeys on their Swedish tour, and talk some trash with the guy.
Adam West/BellRays-split 7"
This 7" contains 2 fat covers, one on the Cream's "SWLABR," and one on the Saints' "Nights in Venice." "SWLABR", which is performed by Adam West, sounds as strong as Monster Magnet with a few Turbonegro solos. The first thing you think of when you turn the record over - take it easy, damn it! THEN you find out that this side should be played on 33 and not on 45, which you might have thought in the first place. "Nights in Venice," which is played here by The BellRays, is a smooth punk rock tune. Kudos to the singer, who is a broad with the most awesome Bad Afro and she has a damn cool voice too (there is nothing cooler than black broads who sing punk rock). Damn good looking front and back side on the 7" too.

Adam West/Candy Snatchers-split 7"
Adam West begin with the "Vanilla" tune, which is calm and smooth punk rock, delightful and not too intense, a few short solos are served as well. Good looking Mexican girl on the cover too. If you turn over the record, you will find the not-so-unknown Candy Snatchers, who do the Teenage Head cover "Picture My Face"... for which the Swedish garage heroes, the Nomads, have also covered. Always aaaaawsome punk rock.
****1/2 = 4.5 stars outta 5
Adam West-Mondo Royale CD
Adam West sounds like a mix of today's rock like Monster Magnet and the rock from the 60-70s like Iron Butterfly/Velvet Underground. But the singer's voice sounds damn like Monster Magnet singer Dave Wyndorf. Another name for their musical style could be 60s garage punk. Anyway you are served 14 good tunes, one of which is a cover on "Venus in Furs" which they do bloody well. Nice looking cover too.
***1/2 = 3.5 stars outta 5
Adam West-13 de luxe CD
When picking up this record, the thought was "what a daaaamn good looking cover!" These guys seem to like leopard spots, flames, iron crosses, porn, and stars! "Awesome, awesome but dangerous, dangerous." This record is a later production than the other one and sounds a little more like Monster Magnet's "Powertrip" and less psychedelic than the former. Hope the group comes to Sweden soon so we can check the guys out. If you like Monster Magnet and similar groups, you ought to check out Adam West.
**** = 4 stars outta 5
