Reviews of Adam West records in Dig It! Fanzine - July 2001

Adam West reviews from Dig It! # 22
New vinyl releases galore for the metal punk overlords of Washington DC, who give a hard rocking sound to their punk rock, a little more everyday. If you can dig the unlikely offspring of an AC/DC Black Sabbath Misfits Gluecifer adulterous relationship, Adam West should hit the spot.

A single with two tracks recorded in 1999, Piece Of Ass / Iron Chain provides an abundance of (very) heavy riffing and (very) raucous bawling, with a touch more garage in the sound than most of its heavy punk competitors. The whole thing packaged by With An X / The Telegraph Company with a sleeve adorned with scantily clad young women. Over the top, and quite funny. Jake Starr, Adam West's lead screamer, chose his own Fandango label to release their 10-inch Hi-Balls Are Rolling! . Six songs recorded between 1999 and 2000, by two different line-ups, with three covers : AC/DC's Sin City , Thin Lizzy's Cold Sweat , just to show where their heart is, and Cruiser from the excellent Scandinavian band Mensen, a song remindful of Sonic Reducer . The three original songs drive their point with a sledgehammer. Those guys don't pussyfoot around. Jake must have left the studio with a sore throat. They only pressed a few hundred copies, on vinyl best described as. . . shit brown wax , as they say.

Finally the split single Adam West / Hellacopters, a tribute to the Damned, has just come out, with a print run of 666 copies. Adam West delivers a very good version of the classic Neat Neat Neat while the Scandinavians lay claim to the furious (and very brief) Stab Your Back , a track that should make their fans ecstatic. Jake also announces the upcoming releases of Nicke Hellacopter's solo single and a live 7" by the Flaming Sideburns.
