Review of Adam West "13 de luxe" CD in Etch Magazine - May 1999

Adam West: 13 Deluxe CD
I'm surprised I made it past the first track, 'Platinum', on this record. I wanted to put it on repeat on my CD player and just listen to 'Platinum' all day long. It's got a great guitar riff and really interesting lyrics. I really love this song. I made it to the rest of the CD, and I'm very glad I did. '13 Deluxe' is a great rock album with 13 songs that are just heavy and sometimes dirty (musically not lyrically ya perv) rock and roll. Adam West is one of the few bands around that is actually making good, real rock and roll these days. Jake Starr's vocals are reminiscent of Danzig in his post-Samhain days. The guitars are really good and heavy, like early or mid era Soundgarden. There are defiantly some good punk and heavy rock'n'roll influences in these guys. '13 Deluxe' is one of the few albums I've been looking forward to hearing this year (the Groovie Ghoulies and Electric Frankenstein being the other 2 [for those keeping score]). '13 Deluxe' just flat out rocks. Go get this album and check out the songs 'Platinum', 'Bounty Hunter', 'Vanilla', 'Something Wicked', and 'Fear For My Life' and decide for yourself. Be warned though, you'll find yourself humming 'Vanilla' everywhere you go. Heck, there are songs about guns and songs about chicks on here, it doesn't get much better than this. (Fandango)
