Review of Adam West "God's Gift to Women" CD in NINEVOLT - November 2003

Adam West God's Gift to Women CD (People Like You Records)
If you want rock, you've got it with Adam West's latest God's Gift to Women. I'm talking about a big goddamn dump truck load of rock, and Adam West is gonna drop its load right on your unsuspecting head. Unlike the ever-growing legion of so-called "punk rock-n-roll" bands that seem to only own three records Funhouse, LAMF, Sticky Fingers, Adam West truly understands the Rock part of the equation. You know how over the years you've heard songs by Deep Purple and Nazareth, etc., that really rocked and imagined how great it would sound if they had just a little bit of punk attitude and tempo? Well wonder no more - God's Gift to Women is the answer to all your rock fantasies. And that's not to say they're playing some kinda 70s rock revival game a la The Datsuns. These boys take all the elements from Machine Head to Machine Gun Etiquette and make a monster of their very own. This CD comes out of the chute at full bore and doesn't let up. Halfway into the second song you will probably realize that you are running around with your fist in the air and singing along with the chorus. So whom do we have to thank for this Gift? Jake Starr: Vocals, swagger and bravado; Steve (no last name available): Bass and scary faces; Ben Brower: Drums and seeming Stoicism; and recnetly joining the boys, Richmond's own Dan-o Deckelman: the geetar man behind both the legendary Mudd Helmut and Rocket 69. So get down to your local rock record joint and grab God's Gift to Women, and do your part to put the ROCK back in rock-n-roll. (5 out of 5)
