Three reviews in Swedish fanzine "No Rule Zine" - May 1999
Adam West from the U.S. has released a number of singles which range in quality; this one deals with a song called 'Vanilla,' and it is like a mix of early hard rock and punk rock in the form of a slower Nashville Pussy with more bass action. And that is fine--the song is raw, loud and the guitars have a good weight and riff that feels right. Sometimes it can be a little hard to place a band if one has only heard only two songs, of which one is a cover... Great split single from Fandango which I'm not sure is available here in Sweden.
Adam West / The Bellrays Split 7" (Fandango/Vital Gesture)
Two bands who each make their own cover! Adam West drives Cream's old classical piece 'SWLABR' and I'm not immediately impressed because I think it can be hard to succeed with just this song, it is a lot like the original and sends a message which says 'leave that kind of song alone.'...
Adam West '13 Deluxe' CD (Fandango)
Adam West does much better in a full length format because one gets a wider view of what the band is up to: it is music which is a mixture of punk rock, hard rock, grunge and partially influenced by Space rock, which is most noticeable in the last piece '13,' and it is about as long. I think this is a really good record, and there is nothing wrong with a band that succeeds in squeezing in a sound that almost nobody else has, it has to do a great deal with variation. Adam West appeals to both freaks of Fu Manchu and also derelicts who like acts like The Stooges and The Hellacopters. Get this!
