Review of Adam West "13 de luxe" CD release party in Etch Magazine - May 1999

LIVE
Adam West / Banana Fish Zero / BST Payback
The Velvet Lounge, Washington DC, April 10, 1999

I drove 8 hours from Ann Arbor to see this show, the CD release gig for Adam West's new CD '13 Deluxe'. It was well worth the drive...
...Last up was the mighty Adam West. This show was advertised as having "giveaways, go-go girls, and Jake's crotch", the only thing missing was the go-go girls. I was a little disappointed, but once Adam West began playing the go-go girls no longer mattered. Adam West kicked into their heavy rockin' song 'Platinum' to start the set off. Adam West was pretty fast and wild, and didn't let up until the set was over, except for when they paused every now and again to talk to the crowd. While I do know that Jake, Adam West's lead 'throat' man, is influenced by glam acts like Kiss and the MC5, I don't think calling this a 'glam' show is the right way to put it. It was more of just an in-your-face show. These guys just couldn't stop rockin'. After all was said and done, the crowd demanded one more song, and encore. Thus Adam West, quick to please, pull out their cover of Black Sabbath's 'Supernaut'. Adam West was also nice enough to dedicate a Radio Birdman cover ('Burned My Eye') to those of us who drove from Ann Arbor. If Adam West comes near your town, take the time to go check 'em out. It'll be fun.
