Review of "Right On!" CD in PowerPlay - November 2001

Adam West "Right On!" CD
(People Like You Records)

Adam West, you may remember, was the actor who played Batman in the campy cult sixties TV series. What the former caped crusader makes of his name being used as the moniker of this hard-boiled Washington-based, band of noise mongers is anybody's guess. Well, if by chance he's a fan of stripped-down rock in the mould of the MC5, very early Kiss and AC/DC, then he might well be a tad flattered because Adam West (the band) deliver the goods in the honourable traditions of all the aforementioned acts. "Right On!" is a short, simple and straight-to-the-point slab of dirty rock 'n' roll, covered with a sprinkling of humour for good measure. This is rock played so simple that it's ingenious. Forget about hi-fi production or virtuoso musicianship 'cos it would be totally out of place among tracks like "C'mon And Bludgeon Me," "Sultry Motherfucker" and "Flower, Fist and Bestial Wail," as I'm sure you can guess. Definitely not for everybody, but a minor classic in its own right. (8 outta 10)
